It isn’t all fun and games, sport hurts – just ask the Dutch World Cup team. But believe it or not, as these clips are about to show you, some things can cause a lot more pain than a mere defeat. It took quite a bit of perseverance to even compile this list, so let’s place a metaphorical parental advisory sticker on this article – this is not for the feint-hearted.
Cycling Crash
We will start things of a bit mellow and easy to digest. A number of cyclists are caught in a domino effect in which one cyclist falls over another and so on. A few of the cyclists have some great dives that Didier Drogba would be proud to call his own. No one was injured, but it is bloody hilarious to watch
John Terry
This is a video we are sure that Wayne Bridge has on his ‘favourite’ video list on youtube. John Terry is knocked out HARD as he attempts a diving header, yet unfortunately (or not, whatever way you see it) his target of the ball is replaced by Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby’s foot. Wayne Bridge’s ex Vannessa Perrencol (John Terry’s hoe) probably took one on the face, so it’s only fair Terry did too.
Djibril Cisse
How can one guy get so much bad luck? Only few months into his Liverpool career striker Djibril Cisse left leg is broken by an innocuous challenge by Jay Mcevely, he then returned a few months later from a potentially career threatening injury. He completed a full season with Liverpool in the 05/06 season only to break his right leg in a friendly match against china for France meaning he missed the 2006 World Cup. He must have serious bad karma.
Phil Babb
We have all been there; we all feel his pain. The male equivalent of child birth is having your nuts kicked, yet spare a thought for Phil Babb (or Phillipa Babb after this) who’s attempted clearance of a ball resulted him sliding at a fast pace, legs wide apart into the goalpost. We hope for his sake he had kids before this incident.
Willis McGahee
Is it possible for a knee to bend backwards? Well yes according to his video. NFL star Willis Mcgahee knee bends in places that it really shouldn’t after an opponents’ shoulder charges into his knee in turn almost making an L shape with his leg. Next time you get a cramp, don’t cry like a bitch because remember things could be much worse!
Sid Viscious
The award for ‘Person who snapped their leg in half yet acted like it was nothing’ goes to former wrestler Sid Viscious. His botch of a high boot off the top rope ends with his leg flopping around like a fish that has been caught. Whilst most men would scream themselves into unconsciousness, the uber hard Viscious just looks at his leg as if to say ‘skeen I broke my leg!’
Weightlifting Cruncher
This incident was so gruesome that only pictures of Hungarian weightlifter Janos Baranyai injury were shown. His attempt to lift 148kg over his head ended in the worst way you can imagine, the force of the weight caused his elbow to pop out his socket (ouuucch!). Pause at 0.53 if you want to make yourself vomit.
Eduardo
This is probably the most infamous and gruesome football injury in modern times. The same day many believe Arsenal lost the title and William Gallas went crazy. Birmingham’s Martin Taylor launched a lethal challenge on poor Croatian Eduardo, which left his foot almost hanging from his leg. The incident was so horrific Skysports refused to show replays of the incident.
Horsey
If you have ever been back to the homeland you would have noticed that Asians aren’t very loving towards animals. Yet I am sure even the most hardcore aunty/uncle bares some sympathy towards this horse, which is struck by a rally car and sent spiralling into the air. Okay you can laugh now, it is quite funny!
The Hockey Splice
Ok from the off, this guy did not die thankfully or we wouldn’t have shown it. Ice hockey goalkeeper Clint Malurchuck had his throat slit in a sickening clash with other players. Blood pours from his throat which leaves players, fans and commentators in complete shock and sadness. A bit of a downer to be at no.1 but oh well, shit happens.
